CART CUISINE

OVERVIEW:

Cart Cuisine is an adaptive website that puts the unsung food hero front and center. Finally there is one place where people can promote and discover their favorite street food vendors. The website that finally allows these small business owners promote their culinary creations where their brick and mortar cousins used to get all the glory. Customers are able to search for new food by New York City borough or cuisine. Eventually, the website will expand to include other cities as we create a bigger and more vibrant community for the little guy.

This project features a website created for computers that links to a site adapted to mobile screens. User groups include customer side and provider side design. The aim is for an easy to use site that is available to all levels of digital and language literacy.

HIGH-FIDELITY PROTOTYPE:

USER RESEARCH:

The geographical focus for this project is on New York City, which has probably the highest concentration of street food vendors in the country. Eventually, the site would expand to cover other cities.

Research included social media postings and promotion of these vendors as that is the primary outlet for an online presence at the moment. Study also included statistical analysis regarding vendors in New York City at large.

Personas were created from interviews of different vendors to represent the core user on the business side of the project.

KEY QUESTIONS:

  • How can a street vendor create an online presence?

  • How would a street vendor scale up their business?

  • What kind of competition do they face from other vendors and restaurants?

PAPER WIREFRAMES:

Rough design ideas quickly done on paper to test layout and basic site structure.

LOW-FIDELITY PROTOTYPE:

 

Low-fidelity prototype was used to refine some of the elements on each page and to test the overall structure of the website.

Testing this prototype helped in redesigning some elements that were then implemented in the high fidelity website.

HIGH-FIDELITY PROTOTYPE:

Graphics were created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The high-fidelity prototype was then created in Adobe XD.
